Last weekend, Beyonce made HERstory as the FIRST, yes first African American woman to headline at Coachella since the festival's existence. You'd have to be living under a rock, or not down for BLACK EXCELLENCE, if you haven't seen the video or clips of the historic performance.

The performance itself was an ode to the historically black college and university or HBCU lifestyle. I personally did not attend an HBCU, but I wished I had for the culture. Being on the campus or even a football game of an HBCU is unlike anything you'll ever experience. Beyonce was able to capture ALL of that and deliver it as if that was the life she lived. The performance was a mix between a battle of the bands, a Divine Nine probate, homecoming, and spring fest wrapped all in one. She is truly the epitome of #BlackGirlMagic and her work ethic is unmatched.

Needless to say, this look was inspired by her custom made Balmain hoodie she wore at the start of her first set. Hues of golden rod and purple are seen in the Greek style letters on her. I feel as though those boots were made out of the spirits of our ancestors and fairy dust and was the inspiration for my highlight choice. Olivier Rousteing is a genius and there's a clear reason why he's the creative director for Balmain.

What was your favorite part of Beychella? I enjoyed the stadium inspired set. I come from that background, being that I use to coach the flag and baton teams at my alma mater. I also LOVED Diddi Emah, the ULTRA talented choreographer and dancer that SLAAAAAAAAAYED and served life with her double baton performance to Beyonce's "Party." Her stunts, tricks, and swag made her one minute set seem like the whole show. Sis is bomb af and honestly is one of my favorite Atlanta faces, as she's often seen in dance sequences on Lee Daniel's Star on Fox.

Everything about Beychella was amazing! Though I didn't stay awake for the live streaming on YouTube, I've seen countless clips and the video itself. What was your favorite moment from Beyonce's performance. Who else plans on enrolling in Beyonce State University in the fall and pledging B Delta K ? Let me know down below and as always, thank you for sticking around for my inconsistent posts. I promise I'm getting better. Until next time...

Phoenix Beauty 101 started as my name in my faux business plan when I was in cosmetology school. I needed a name to finish my project to graduate. It stuck! Fast forward and its been my social media persona since 2011...
