Skin Series: Dry Skin

Ever wake up and feel like Spongebob the first time he walked into Sandy's dome? Skin feels tight? When you look in the mirror, there seems to be tiny, horizontal lines across your skin? Yea, me too! Seems to be that you have dry skin sis. Dry skin is one of the hardest skin types to shop for regarding skin care. Everywhere you look there's matte this and salicylic that. Lets first talk about how to balance dry skin and then we'll get to products.

Dry skin is defined as skin that does not produce enough oil. Skin texture tends to be rougher than usual. It is not to be confused with dehydrated skin, which lacks water. Dehydration can happen with any skin type. Dehydrated skin feel tight and appear flaky. Making sure that your water intake is up to par is a great way to avoid dehydration. Also making sure that your skin is moisturized correctly is another way to avoid dehydration.

Cleansers that are creamy or frothy are great to have in your arsenal. Origins Checks and Balances cleanser is one of my favorites. It deep cleanses without striping skin of natural oils. Serums help to target a specific skin issue. Vital C Hydrating Anti- Aging Serum is a creamy serum with a citrus aroma that will leave your skin replenished and soft. With dry skin, you can't just use any moisturizer. Looking for key ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides and AHAs are great starting points. L'Oreal Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care for normal/dry skin delivers hydration for 72 continuous hours, is water based and helps to improve skin's radiance.
