Foundation Friday: Maybelline Superstay Foundation
Maybelline has been a staple of my mine since I started experimenting with makeup in high school. I've always loved their eyeshadows and don't even get me talking about mascaras. When I was in cosmetology school, my dream was to be a makeup artist just so I could do Jessica Williams makeup at a shoot. She and Emily Didonato were my favorite Maybelline models. Not only were they beautiful, but they had perfect faces to me.
I purchased this foundation because one of my favorite influencers told me it was the best full coverage foundation she's used in a while, but because I have totally different views, I will leave, said influencer's, name out of it. The color range is reasonable for it to be a drugstore foundation, however, there are hardly any in between shades for beauties like me. Currently, I am wearing shade Coconut, but only because it's the summer. If it were off season, I'd be in between Warm Sun and Coconut.
When it comes to concealers, Maybelline hits the nail on the head because I like my concealer a little lighter. Who doesn't? In the case of foundations, if I weren't a little tanner than normal, I would not be able to wear this foundation. As far as wear, I love the finish of this formula but I couldn't get it to set to save my life. No matter the amount of powder I dusted on top, and I'm not a powder setting girl, it didn't seem to want to set. I don't know if I had too much moisture in my skin or what. Most 24 hour foundations are hydrating enough to stay comfortable on your skin for that long.
I've only ever worn this foundation for up to 7 or 8 hours. The wear is pretty long. My days aren't that long that I need to wear a foundation for a full 24 hours, but it did seem to hold its own. My holy grail foundation is BECCA Ultimate Coverage Complexion Creme. It's not quite on the same level but it does what it's suppose to. Maybelline did an ok job with this one. I'll continue to wear it because I don't like to waste my money and also because it's the only foundation I own that's not too light for the summer.
