Sen18r Spotlight: Ke'Sherion Collins

This month I'd like to highlight some very deserving seniors of the graduating class of 2018. These students have excelled in academics, been very active in their school's student life and have completed the toughest stages of their lives thus far, high school.

Yesterday, I told you guys about Marcus Harris and how special he was to me. Today is no different. Ke'Sherion, or Angel as she's known to her friends and family, is another one of my little babies. I met her as an incoming freshman at Huntington High School during my coaching years. She started off as a twirler on the flag team but was placed on the dance team shortly after. Her manners and passion for all things that she's involved with makes her perfect for this feature.

Angel characterizes her high school experience as exciting. She's learned, in a nutshell, to not be so hard on herself. The 4.0 student has been very involved throughout high school including the National Honor Society, Servants' Heart, where she served as president for 2 years, the Silver Treasures Danceline, where she served as captain her sophomore year and a 4 year veteran, and she also coaches tumbling in her spare time.

Angel was also crowned as Homecoming Queen, chosen for senior personalities, including 'Most Likely To Succeed,' and the distinguished title of Student of the Year. She says she plans to simply live life mentally, spiritually, and emotionally stable. She'll also be starting school during the summer at the Shreveport campus of Northwestern State University and major in nursing.

Angel will be graduating on May 12, 2018 in downtown Shreveport at the Shreveport Convention Center. When asked if she had any advice for incoming freshman she urges them to ALWAYS take things serious. "...even the small things because they catch up with you in the end, and to the class of 2019, remain humbled, be involved with everything, and stay focused."

Congratulations Angel on EVERYTHING!!! You've made your family, friends, and me extremely proud and I know that your future is bright! Well folks, two down, three to go. For our next spotlight we'll be traveling to south Louisiana. Stay tuned.

Phoenix Beauty 101 started as my name in my faux business plan when I was in cosmetology school. I needed a name to finish my project to graduate. It stuck! Fast forward and its been my social media persona since 2011...
