5 Tips for Purposeful Living
How often have you had an idea and thought to yourself, "Damn! I should really do that," but then the next minute you think, "...but everyone else is already doing that." So you don't do it at all, and you're stuck in this cycle of believing that everyone is more deserving than you. Trust me, I can't tell you how often I've thought that exact thing. Blogging gives me the outlet to express myself in a way that many other people are doing, but the big difference between you and I is, you have your story, and I have mine. No one else is capable of telling my story, my experience, and my truth. I'm the only person on the planet that can do that, and that's why today, we're talking about living in YOUR purpose.
Purposeful living is a difficult journey and is not for the weak. It truly urges you out of your comfort zone and makes it impossible to settle for less than you deserve. Having strong faith and belief that your purpose is higher than the cause is what will keep you going, but when you can't see the road ahead, it can be hard to stay committed to your why. How do you stay obedient when doubt and fear consume your mind? I'll share some tips and tricks that are working for me to keep me afloat.
Meditation is one of those things that either works for you or it doesn't. It helps to keep your mind at ease and focused so that you can do the things needed to keep you on the right path. Recently, I've implemented stones, crystals and essential oils to aid in deeper meditation and focus. I also use the Calm app that can be downloaded on Google and Apple devices.
Contrary to what most believe, it is possible to have a relationship with God and take time for meditation. This is the closest I've ever been to God in my adult life and I feel Him working in my life daily. Giving my life to God has been the best thing I've done in a very long time. Acknowledging Him in everything I do has assured me that I am on the right path.
Pros vs. Cons
Making a pros and cons list sounds stupid but it works for me. When I'm unsure of something, I always make a pros and cons list to weigh the benefits and drawbacks of a situation before I make a final decision. Writing on fancy, girly paper helps too, and I love color pens.
Having a support system is very important. You want to make sure it's someone that can be subjective and objective so that when the time is right, they can tell you the truth and not just give you a fluff answer. Purposeful living needs honesty, not sugar coating.
Being honest with those in your life is important, but being honest with yourself should be TOP PRIORITY! Honesty will help you to filter what's real in your life and help you to stay focused on your goals.
